SWG Nightshift

It's 2am, and something just came through on the comms.

In the early hours of July 3rd, 1985, the NRO was alerted to a foreign object on a trajectory to land just off the Northern California coast. Splashdown was confirmed at approximately 2:34 a.m., and a recovery team was dispatched to investigate and retrieve any objects that may have survived the impact.

The team recovered a single object from the water: a sealed container, roughly the size of a briefcase, with no visible markings or seams. It was transferred that same morning to a facility in the Sierra foothills that, officially, did not exist. Over the following weeks, the night shift began logging readings no one could explain. For nearly a year, the object remained silent. X-ray scans could not penetrate its exterior, and no machinery could force it open. Then, on July 18th, 1986, at exactly 2:00 a.m., two narrow slits opened on its surface, revealing what appeared to be some kind of electrical connection.
